Scouts  is the third section in the Scout Group, above Beavers and Cubs and was the original section set up by our founder B-P. A Cub may move up to Scouts any time between their 10th and 11th birthdays. Some people like to stay in Cubs as long as possible, others can’t wait to become a Scout as soon as possible! We’re just like big adventurous Cubs really; at least until we’re 14, then it’s time for Explorers.

The Scout Troop provides a wide variety of different, exciting and enjoyable activities with the objective of helping young people to develop to their full potential. The Troop operates on a patrol basis in which the young people themselves play a significant and important part in the running of the Troop.

Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme. “Participation” rather than meeting set standards is the key approach and for the Scout who wants to be recognised for his or her achievements there are a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges. Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes.
